CCC Luau

These are some pictures from our Luau last weekend - what a fun night! I think everyone had a good time. :)

Snow Break

For Spring Break, we've rented a cabin with our friends the Pikes up near Greer and the snow. Oliver, Ivy and I are staying here at the cabin today while everyone is skiing. They felt bad leaving us here, but the secret is, we had fun all day. Don't tell them, though, we like them to feel sorry for us. Here's our SnowCat we made. It even has a tail. Meow!

Workin' Hard

James came to visit, he had an appointment on the trampoline with the kids. Oh yeah, he also had an interview with a hospital in Phoenix.

Oliver worked hard on growing. He's also smiling consistently this week! It's like fairies and heaven and stars twinkling and cotton candy all mixed up together. It lights up my soul! Someday, I'll get a great picture to show you all, but you know, it's just not quite the same as seeing it yourself.
Lizzie worked on getting a drink. She had a school program during which she had to say "Water" no less than FORTY (40) times as she walked around the room, trailed by her friend Dallin, who had to say "Patience, little Prospector, patience" no less than Twenty (20) times. A difficult script for even the most versatile actors.

Lizzie also completed the job of turning a full Decade old this week.
Eli worked on "The Entertainer" - his piano recital song - every day. It's sounding great.

Ivy worked on stealing the show in every picture on Lizzie's birthday.

Lizzie worked on casting a spell on the photographer with her new duds from G. Vickie. It must have been the "have a crazy week" spell, and it totally worked.

Lizzie's Latest Poetry Win...

Lizzie came home from school with bells ringing: She is a winner in the District Poetry Contest! This is her poem. She wrote it at school, so this is the first time I've seen it. I have to sign a statement that it is her original work, then I have to send the poem back to school tomorrow. I love the rhythm and I love the fact that I had to read it twice before I realized that she was talking about the mouse in the beginning.

THE CHASE

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter,

The smell of cheesecake batter.

Cat is sleeping on the table,

Snible-snable, snible-snable,

One crumb left for the colony,

Loney-lawny, loney-lawny.

Snatch it up and stay alert,

Then the chase begins.

Cat leaps up and Mouse leaps down,

One will lose the other, wins.

Twists and turns,

Stomps and lifts,

Ups and downs,

Jumps and shifts.

Skidding, sliding,

Halting, gliding,

Mouse comes to a stop.

Breathing hard,

She looks around,

While Cat was crouching low.

He didn't make a sound.

SILENCE...

SILENCE...

Cat pounces,

Mouse leaps,

And Cat landed,

In a heap.

Mouse scurries back,

To her mum,

And her hole by the pantry...

"30 minutes of Easy Listening"

This is what we bid on at the the Girls' Camp Fundraiser last week. For a hefty fee, the Andrews and we split the honor of hosting 5 male musicians in our home and enjoying their live music. We heard some 4 part harmony hymns, some Moulin Rouge, a throwback to 80's rockbands - hey, there was even some choreography involved.

When it was over, we realized we got them for a steal. :) Thanks for the music, guys!

Tucson Song

I brought my nanny with me to a conference in Tucson this weekend. heehee.

That's Whitney! She came down from SLC to visit, and I put her to work watching the baby while I went to the American Choral Director's Association conference. I loved every minute, and Whitney and I got to do a roadtrip together.

Masses of Children

Today, our choir combined with musicians from around the valley to perform John Rutter's Mass of the Children. It is gorgeous music, similar to his Requiem in sound and style. Here's some pics from our dress rehearsal yesterday. What a fun concert!

he's awake!

I was noticing that all the pictures that I take of Oliver are when he's sleeping, which I think is explained by the fact that I have a free second to take the picture, and also that babies are easier to photograph when they are holdiing still. Which is usually when they're sleeping. :) Here's what he looks like awake.
